Algiers' second beltway

Following a major increase in transportation demand resulting from the development and expansion of the urban mass, the Wilaya (province) of Algiers and the Public Works Department have planned to build a second beltway in order to relieve traffic congestion on the existing road network.

 

Different four-lane highway variants were proposed and the selected alternative was the object of a detailed preliminary study which included the design of more than 60 km of highway, 16 main and secondary interchanges (simple trumpet, half cloverleaf, cloverleaf and directional), 48 restorations for existing roads, 3 viaducts, 63 bridges, as well as 23 types of drainage structures.

  • Traffic survey with O-D (origin destination) studies;
  • Hydrological and hydraulic studies;

  • Detailed preliminary design (highways –structures – interchanges);
  • Cost estimation and technical specifications;
  • Preparation of invitation to tender documents.
