Mini Hydroelectric Generating Stations (Phase I)

Construction of Mini Hydroelectric Generating Stations (Phase I), Dominican Republic

This project is part of the Dominican Republic’s hydroelectric development program, which includes the construction of mini hydroelectric generating stations and the installation of electrical transmission and distribution systems throughout the country. Phase I of the program involved building two mini hydroelectric generating stations and completing major electrical transmission and distribution projects.  Dessau structured the financing and completed the project in EPCM (Engineering, Purchasing and Construction Management) mode.

The mini run-of-river hydroelectric generating stations have 1 MW and 4 MW installed capacities.  The transmission and distribution project includes refurbishing four sub-stations and over 100 km of lines to serve a population of approximately 15,000 persons.
